OVERVIEW
The ECS Health and Physical Education Teacher organizes games and challenges that promote physical activity among adolescents from ninth through twelfth grades. The ECS HPE Teacher develops motor skills and physical development and proper exercise and eating habits for children. The ECS HPE teacher must adjust their curricula to adapt to children with disabilities or different physical abilities. The ECS HPE teacher is responsible for the planning and orchestration of a Physical Fitness Day for students, and runs additional activities to support student wellness and active lifestyle. The ECS HPE teacher must have strong speaking and listening skills. Besides being knowledgeable about an activity, they need to be able to communicate and demonstrate it properly. The ECS HPE teacher must be able to observe all students and maintain discipline within the class. In addition to students, they interact with parents, other teachers and school administrators. Candidates should be energetic and progressive minded, with a willingness to work collaboratively with all educators at the campus.
Key Responsibilities
Use the Environmental Charter School’s PE scope and sequence to create purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that support physical fitness, team development and sportsmanship, health and wellness, gross motor development, nutrition, and individual or team sports.
Create a positive, achievement-oriented, and structured learning environment in which all students can experience success
Infuse joy and rigor in lessons and so that students are excited about and invested in their physical and mental health
Regularly evaluate student progress using a variety of assessment methods
Utilize the Google platform for document development
Fully participate in opportunities for professional growth
Educational Background and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
PA certification in Health/Physical Education PK-12
Prior years' teaching experience preferred
Demonstrated experience in high school grades-focused physical education instruction
Experience in designing and implementing curriculum preferred
Familiarity with charter schools
Compensation and Benefits
Minimum starting salary of $44,716 up to a maximum starting salary of $51,056, dependent upon prior years’ teaching experience.
