The Engineering Program Manager at Planet is responsible for leading satellite development and manufacturing programs, coordinating cross‑functional teams, managing technical plans and schedules, and driving problem‑solving efforts to ensure successful project execution from design to launch.
Key Responsibilities
Lead satellite development programs from planning through launch, including defining requirements and executing all program phases.
Develop and manage project schedules and budgets, tracking performance across all phases.
Oversee execution of technical plans internally and with external suppliers, managing deliverables and milestones.
Coordinate schedules, priorities, and status updates across engineering, manufacturing, stakeholders, and management.
Drive productivity and progress on concurrent projects by working with engineering teams and stakeholders.
Develop tools and processes to measure and improve engineering productivity.
Identify and eliminate blocking issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions in engineering and manufacturing.
Manage manufacturing ramp‑up from early factory engagement through production, ensuring readiness and progress.
Requirements
A BA or BS degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
Six (6) years of relevant experience in program management within aerospace, manufacturing, or a similar industry.
Experience in an engineering program management role for the development and ramp of hardware systems in a cross‑functional context.
Ability to be self‑motivated and enthusiastic with creative and critical thinking capabilities.
Experience working with and managing external contract manufacturers (CMs), suppliers, and vendors to drive program success.
Excellent written and verbal communication and facilitation skills, including the ability to present complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
Ability to travel internationally, specifically to Europe.
This position requires access to export‑controlled information, and employment or hiring of a contractor is contingent upon the candidate’s ability to access all applicable export‑controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.

Salary range: $162,600 - $203,200 USD (specific to San Francisco)
