If you are interested in a challenging opportunity in a high-energy, team-oriented environment, you are encouraged to apply.BASIC FUNCTIONS :In a learner capacity and under the direct supervision of the Deputy Secretary for Human Resources (HR) and Assistant Director, the Intern, in partnership with the Administrative Assistant/Scheduler and Executive Assistant, will be responsible for general office duties including, greeting and interacting with visitors, answering the telephone, managing incoming mail, ordering supplies, and general support functions. In addition, the intern may be assigned to work on various employee engagement efforts, shadow the Human Resources Specialist with the day-to-day operations of payroll, and work on any additional special projects.DUTIES :In a learner capacity and under the direct supervision of the Deputy Secretary for Human Resources (HR) and Assistant Director, the ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced, professional environment and assist with Senate offices, their staff, and committee offices. The intern will be exposed to various HR topics and may assist with projects and assignments including but not limited to the new hire process, employee engagement, payroll and benefits, career advising, family care and medical leave, and reasonable accommodation.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS :Ideal candidates will have experience working in a fast-paced administrative capacity. Candidates should have a basic understanding of the legislature, be able to maintain confidentiality, and exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills. Applicants must be organized, proficient with Microsoft Office and PCs, and be able to work in a fast-paced, professional environment.LOCATION, SALARY AND FILING DATE :This position is located in Sacramento, CA and requires in person attendance.The Senate's core business hours are 9:00 a.m.- 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
