Certified Medical Assistant/Community Health Worker
Duties/Responsibilities:
Below are the primary duties and essential functions of an employee in this position. Assist physician/nurse practitioner with various clinic duties as assigned, including answering phone calls, assembling medication education materials, and managing the referral process.
Obtain and enter vital signsand other clinical data in patient record with complete accuracy.
Prepare patient charts/information for medical appointments to ensure accurateand comprehensive charting.
Track and coordinate data pertinent to patients' care (ie. Medication assistanceand sample medications, drug utilization evaluations, etc.).
Complete prior authorizations for medications and referrals as needed.
Continue tofurther education by attending continuing education and training courses for continued certification.
Review all outpatient medication storage and administration locations for monthly pharmacy review requirements.
Use standard precautions and OSHA guidelines inthe disposal of medical waste.
Complete and submitbilling documents.
Track and log equipment maintenance documentation.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Occupational Exposure Risk Classification: The normal work routine involves minimal exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
The normal work routine has a minimal ergonomic risk for repetitive motion impairment.
The position may require a minimal amount of physical exertion (bending, lifting, twisting) in the work area.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Associate degree in Medical Assisting.
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience in a medical office setting.
Certificate or Professional License: Certification in Medical Assistant through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
Valid driver’s license and active auto insurance coverage.
Satisfactory results from criminal and driving record background checks.
