Akkodis is seeking a for a Electrical Engineer- APU Control Systems at Location: Tucson, AZ for a contract Duration: 06+Months.Pay Range: $50/h- $55/h; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.Shift: 1st Shift (Standard schedule with flexibility, e.g., 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)Position OverviewThis role is part of an engineering team responsible for designing, developing, and sustaining complex electronic hardware for Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) gas turbine engines. The position covers the full hardware lifecycle—from design and integration to production support and compliance—focusing on Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and other airborne electronic systems.Key ResponsibilitiesProduction SupportResolve production issues and release Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).Provide technical justification for design/component changes.Support project engineers with workload management.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Component Engineering, Mechanical, Certification, Test Services, and Configuration Management.Design & IntegrationMaintain Approved Source Lists (ASL) and supplier build-to-print drawings.Ensure product-level requirements align with system/customer requirements.Integrate hardware designs into APU control system architectures.Support updates for obsolescence, product improvements, and lifecycle changes.Communication & Supplier ManagementAct as engineering liaison with suppliers, customers, and internal teams.Track supplier milestones and integrate program timelines.Author and maintain technical communications, logs, and coordination memos.ComplianceSupport DO-254 design assurance for airborne electronic hardware.Contribute to nuclear hardening design assurance activities when required.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Systems Engineering.2+ years of experience with aerospace electronic hardware or other safety-critical systems.Hands-on experience with CCAs/PCBs (design, troubleshooting, sustainment).Proficiency with circuit analysis/modeling tools (SPICE, MATLAB).Experience writing technical substantiation/change-justification documentation.Strong background in electronic hardware testing and troubleshooting.Ability to interpret technical drawings and configuration-controlled documentation.Experience supporting production and engineering change releases.Excellent communication skills with suppliers and cross-functional teams.Desired QualificationsMaster's degree in a related engineering discipline.Experience with DO-254 design assurance.Familiarity with ECUs, sensors, actuators, or engine/APU control systems.Knowledge of component obsolescence management.Exposure to DO-160 environmental testing.Experience mentoring junior engineers.Background in radiation-tolerant or nuclear-hardened hardware.Prescreening Questions:What is your experience developing Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) and Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs)?What experience do you have in circuit analysis and modeling?What experience do you have writing technical substantiation or justification for change documents for electronic components?What experience do you have with electronic hardware testing?If you feel this is not something that you are currently interested in but know of someone who might be, please share the details with them or let me know their details so I can reach out to them!
