Veterinary Laboratory TechnicianLocation: Mukilteo, WADuration: Contract till Apr 2027 with possibility to extendShift: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday Job Description:Position SummaryThe Global Diagnostics Medical Affairs Commercial division is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Veterinary Laboratory Technician to join our team on a contract basis. This role will support innovative veterinary diagnostic studies and contribute to the development and evaluation of cutting-edge point-of-care diagnostic technologies.Working alongside a team of veterinary and scientific experts, the Veterinary Laboratory Technician will play a key role in supporting clinical studies, diagnostic analyzer evaluations, validation activities, and post-validation research projects.The role will include laboratory-based work, including sample acquisition and handling, operation of diagnostic instruments such as biochemistry, hematology, and immunoassay analyzers, and documenting procedures and results per protocol instructions. Outstanding laboratory techniques, attention to detail, and documentation are prerequisite skills. Self-motivation, ability to work independently, outstanding problem-solving skills, and strong communication skills are essential to be successful in this role.Job Duties: Laboratory Testing and Study SupportConducting point-of-care and reference laboratory diagnostic instrument testing across various instrument types including biochemistry, hematology, and immunoassay instrumentsSupporting data collection for all clinical study activities including validation studies and product evaluation projectsSupporting sample acquisition effortsAssisting with coordination, organization, and management of study supplies, samples, consumables, and equipmentMaintaining sterile laboratory conditions where requiredWorking collaboratively with reference laboratory colleagues to ensure studies align with laboratory workflowsProviding regular updates to Medical Affairs colleagues regarding study progressData Management and DocumentationMaintaining accurate records of samples, study data, study methods, and resultsEnsuring all collected data is organised, accurate, and prepared for analysisDocumenting any deviations from study protocols and communicating these appropriatelySupporting protocol reviews and study documentationRole Qualifications:Education and Experience:BSc/BA in Biology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or related disciplineExperience handling laboratory samples, equipment, and diagnostic instruments such as biochemistry, hematology, and immunoassay analyzersExperience with laboratory documentation, record keeping, and data captureKnowledge or experience within veterinary diagnostics would be highly advantageousRequired Skills:Strong understanding of laboratory techniques, processes, and safetyExcellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracyStrong organizational and time management skillsAbility to be independent and manage priorities effectivelyStrong problem-solving skillsExcellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with scientific teamsProficiency using Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Teams, and OutlookPhysical Position RequirementsAbility to work in various positions, sitting, standing, bendingAbility to work in a laboratory environment for the duration of data collection activities
