Director, Production Finance

Job Description9 Story Media Group, an industry leading creator, producer and distributor of award-winning animated and live action content for young audiences globally, is seeking a Director, Production Finance. This role is ideal for candidates with strong people management skills, deep production accounting expertise, and experience with public company reporting and compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadershipDevelop, coach and lead team of 5 employees – 1 Manager, Production Accounting, 1 Tax Credit Analyst and 3 Production AccountantsAssess and manage resourcing needs of the team, including hiringProvide direction and execute project plans to meet all deadlines and responsibilities of the departmentAssess and execute process improvement projectsFinancial ReportingLead financial integration projects for Toronto production accounting functionPrepare monthly consolidation reporting packages and roll-forward packages for all productionsReport monthly financial results within public company deadlinesWork with Scholastic, internal auditors and external auditors on quarterly reviews and year-end audit of consolidated financial statementsWork with Scholastic, internal auditors and external auditors on Toronto production internal controls documentation and monitoring for Sarbanes-Oxley complianceProduction AccountingOversee the Production Accounting team and preparation of monthly reporting packages and cost reportsAttend monthly cost report meetings with Production team, analyze variances and manage overagesLead monthly Toronto Financial Summary meeting with 9 Story executives and Production Leadership TeamManage shared labour and related party transaction allocationsLead cost report meetings with external clientsBi-weekly approvals of production payments (payroll, wires, transfers, cheques)Production SupportReview and sign off on all production budgets and bidsWork with Production Leadership team to provide financial analysis and improve budgeting processProduction FinancingOversee preparation of production financing packages for the bank lender and work with Legal & Business Affairs team to close interim financing loansOversee production cash flow requirements and communicate invoicing and loan drawdown needsPrepare cash flow statements and payment schedules for new projectsWork with FP&A team to build out accurate balance sheet forecasting and cash flow forecastingTax CreditsOversee tax credit application and filing processesOversee production cost, HST and CRA auditsOtherOther tasks, analysis and activities as reasonably required by 9 StoryKey RequirementsWe thank all applicants for their interest, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.The salary range for this role is $125,000 - $150,000 per annum.We consider several factors in determining salary offers including experience, skills, qualifications, and education.This role is eligible for a bonus.
