This important position serves as a key point of contact for the public and plays a critical role in supporting the daily operations of the Transportation Department by ensuring efficient scheduling, accurate ride coordination, and exceptional customer service.The Administrative Support Specialist is responsible for entering and maintaining scheduled transportation rides with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, preparing and organizing daily transportation schedules, and assisting in the coordination of transportation services for community members. This position regularly interacts with the public by greeting visitors, answering questions regarding PATS services, explaining transportation procedures, and providing courteous and professional assistance to riders, families, and community partners.The hours for this position are Monday - Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.For the detailed job description, click To learn more about PATS, click The starting salary will be determined with consideration given to both the candidate's educational background and relevant work experience.Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy.This is a non-exempt position working 37.5 hours weekly/1950 hours annually.Essential FunctionsThe essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.Files DSS referrals and enters rides for the clients as necessary.Answers the phones and schedules, changes, or cancels rides.Communicates with the drivers through the two-way radio.Calls riders to confirm schedule for the next day.Must be available to work scheduled hours.Documents record of no shows and makes sure the appropriate charge is made for the next ride.Provides direct support of the dispatch area and maintenance, process and verification of all trip records and daily manifest, schedules, passenger rosters, etc.Receives, screens, and distributes mail, documents and other materials according to general knowledge of the work unit's operations and key personnel.Assists the public with understanding departmental and the County's policies and procedures or laws as they relate to the services being provided by the unit; explains reasons for denying a request; refers to others who may make exceptions.Reviews and enters data to maintain and update various databases.Research information through files, records, resources and electronic media.Reviews and verifies records and reports to ensure that information is provided and correct; research data bases for needed information; compiles information into an understandable format.Prepares a wide variety of documents including correspondence, reports, memoranda, etc. from hand written notes or verbal instructions; copies, collates, binds, faxes, emails, and distributes information in various formats.Performs related work as assigned.Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsHigh School Graduation or GED equivalent.One (1) year of clerical support, customer service or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Special Certifications and LicensesNone.Person County conducts pre-employment screening on candidates.
