About the Opportunity:
The MACHINE LEARNING ENGINEER – RL is responsible for designing, training, and deploying reinforcement learning (RL) systems to solve complex decision-making problems where supervised learning is insufficient. This role ensures the effective application of RL algorithms in production environments, focusing on stability, safety, and continuous improvement of deployed solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop reinforcement learning-based systems for high-impact decision problems
- Train and deploy RL models, managing engineering challenges associated with scalability and evaluation
- Build and tune reward models in complex environments
- Utilize simulation environments and large-scale data collection to support model training
- Work with GPU clusters to train neural network policies
- Collaborate to transition RL solutions from research to production, ensuring robustness and safety
Requirements:
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field, or equivalent applied experience
- Six or more years of combined RL research and engineering experience
- Proficiency in Python and modern deep learning frameworks
- Experience with at least one major RL library or in-house RL stack
- Strong understanding of probability, optimization, and RL theoretical foundations
- Experience designing reward functions in complex environments
- Familiarity with simulation environments and large-scale experience collection
- Experience training neural network policies on GPU clusters
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven record of delivering impactful RL projects or publications
- Pay Range and Compensation Package:
Salary Range: $155,000 to $180,000 annually
