Mechanical Product Engineer

J.F. White Contracting Company's Mechanical Division is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Mechanical Project Engineer to support the delivery of complex HVAC and mechanical construction projects throughout Greater Boston. This role is ideal for an early-to mid-career professional looking to build a strong foundation in mechanical construction, working directly alongside experienced Project Managers and Superintendents on technically challenging, high-value projects. The position is primarily office-based with regular site visits and occasional relocation to a field construction office.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESManage project document control including submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, closeout packages, and quality and safety recordsTrack and log contract deliverables, correspondence, and document transmittals to ensure timely and complete responsesAssist Project Managers in developing project schedules, processing schedule updates, and identifying and supporting delay mitigation strategiesSupport project cost control efforts including tracking budgets, commitments, and change order logsAssist the estimating department with material quantity takeoffs and the solicitation of vendor and subcontractor pricingSupport Superintendent and Project Manager with subcontractor coordination, daily field oversight, and issue resolutionReview and interpret mechanical construction drawings, specifications, and contract documentsHelp identify and resolve field issues; escalate critical items to the project manager with clear documentationMaintain project logs including RFI logs, submittal logs, meeting minutes, and inspection reportsCoordinate with design engineers, inspectors, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) on behalf of the project teamAssist with punch list tracking, commissioning coordination, and project closeout activitiesTravel to job sites throughout Greater Boston on a regular basisPerform other duties as required to support project team goalsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIESBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field - OR - 3+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical or HVAC constructionAbility to read, interpret, and work from mechanical, architectural, and civil construction drawings and specificationsStrong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneouslyExcellent written and verbal communication skills for coordination with internal teams, subcontractors, and clientsProficiency in document control platforms (Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or equivalent)Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)Motivated self-starter with a desire to learn and grow in the mechanical construction industryWillingness to travel to job sites within Greater Boston on a regular basisPREFERRED SKILLSPrior experience in mechanical, HVAC, or construction managementFamiliarity with AutoCAD or BIM/Revit toolsBasic understanding of HVAC systems, piping systems, or mechanical equipmentExperience with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project scheduling toolsCompensation Range: $85,000-$130,000
