Geospatial Software Engineer (Full Stack) – Cloud‐Native GIS / Python / React / Spatiotemporal DataNational Security / Geospatial IntelligenceSpecialized R&D / Defense TechnologyThe CompanyMy client is a highly specialized engineering firm supporting critical federal and defense initiatives.Their core mission involves building next‐generation sensor fusion platforms to process complex, multi‐modal signals for anomaly detection.They offer the stability of multi‐year, mission‐critical funding combined with a low‐ceremony, high‐autonomy engineering culture.Why Join?Take ownership of the full geospatial data path, from analytical tables to interactive web front‐ends.Solve complex spatial problems, including pattern‐of‐life analytics and inferring physical features from noisy spatiotemporal signals.Work largely independently in a remote‐first or hybrid environment within a small, applied‐research team.Design scalable systems that support experimental design, data collection, and operational goals.Advance impactful research and technical innovation in a government‐funded, technology‐driven startup.The RoleA technical, hands‐on role where you will:Implement and optimize data pipelines for ETL and real‐time and batch processing for large‐scale spatiotemporal sensor data.Extract and transform curated data from open table formats (e.g., Iceberg) into serving stores such as PostgreSQL, PostGIS, or TimescaleDB.Build web backends, UIs, and other tools to support advanced data analysis, visualization, and machine learning workflows.Utilize a Python‐centric stack (FastAPI/Pydantic) alongside React and mapping libraries (Cesium, Mapbox/MapLibre) for front‐end geospatial visualization.Participate in the full software development lifecycle including planning, implementation, testing, and deployment.Work with cloud platforms (AWS) and distributed systems utilizing Docker and Kubernetes (K3s/Minikube).The Essential RequirementsExperience with opensource geospatial tools such as GeoPandas, rasterio, shapely, pyproj, and PDAL.Eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance – U.S. Citizenship required.5+ years of experience using programming languages such as Python, Java, and Scala.3+ years of experience building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures for large spatiotemporal, sensor datasets.Strong understanding of databases, including relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite) and NoSQL (e.g. Redshift, Cassandra, MongoDB).Familiarity with spatial modeling and analysis, zonal statistics, and spatial transformations.What Will Make You Stand OutFamiliarity with web UI languages and frameworks including TypeScript and CSS.Prior work on cloud‐native geospatial analytics platforms focusing on sensor fusion or defense operations.If you are interested in this role, please apply with your resume through this site.DisclaimerNo terminology in this advert is intended to discriminate on the grounds of age, sex, race, religion or belief, disability, pregnancy and maternity, marriage and civil partnership, sexual orientation, gender, and/or gender reassignment, and we confirm that we are happy to accept applications from anyone for this role.
