This role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient- and family-centered care in a cardiac stepdown environment. The RN will manage post-procedural cardiac patients, utilizing clinical expertise, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice to ensure optimal patient outcomes.This position follows the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, emphasizing compassionate, individualized care, patient education, and clinical excellence.Unit Overview14-bed cardiac stepdown unit (PCU)Patient ratio: 1:3 – 1:4Focus on post-procedural cardiac patientsCommon diagnoses:NSTEMITAVRWatchman proceduresCardiac ablationsEquipment & skills:Telemetry monitoring (required)Femstop devicesEKG interpretationMedications:Nitroglycerin (NTG)HeparinAngiomaxBeta blockersPlavixEMR: EpicScrubs: Galaxy BlueKey ResponsibilitiesPerform comprehensive patient assessments and reassessmentsDevelop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plansMonitor cardiac rhythms and titrate medications as neededProvide education to patients and families regarding care and recoveryCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality outcomesDelegate tasks appropriately and support unit teamworkParticipate in quality, safety, and process improvement initiativesMaintain accurate and timely documentationRequired QualificationsActive Registered Nurse (RN) license – Kentucky (required at submission)Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experienceRecent PCU / cardiac stepdown experienceProficiency in telemetry interpretation and medication titrationExperience with Epic EMRCertifications:BLSACLSNIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)Preferred ExperienceStrong background in cardiac stepdown or post-procedural cardiac careExperience managing cardiac drips and interventionsAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentWork Environment & ExpectationsNight shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)3 shifts per week (36 hours)Every other weekend requiredFloating may be required based on unit needsWhy Join Norton Healthcare?This is an excellent opportunity to work in a specialized cardiac stepdown unit within a respected healthcare system.
