SOW - NRIS Custom Module Remote: Jackson, MS About the JobDuration: Long term Contract PositionLocation: Remote: Jackson, MSPay rate: HourlyJob ID: 158461 Overview: The client is seeking to enhance its technical guidance capabilities by implementing tools that support Private Lands Biologists in efficiently generating site visit summaries and comprehensive wildlife and forest management plans. These tools must integrate with NRIS while leveraging modern, mobile-friendly, and GIS-enabled technologies Responsibilities: 3.1 General ApproachThe project will follow a phased development approach consisting of: 1. Design Phase – Define workflows, user interface, reporting structure, and system requirements 2. Development Phase – Build core system components and integrations 3. Testing & Refinement – Validate functionality and refine outputs 4. Deployment & Training – Implement system and train users All detailed functional specifications will be finalized during the Design Phase in collaboration with Client. 3.2 Core Functional CapabilitiesA. Data Integration• Import and utilize landowner and project data from NRIS via API or other approved data exchange methods Integration scope and functionality will depend on NRIS system architecture, data availability, and API accessibilityVendor will collaborate with client to define and implement feasible integration WorkflowsB. GIS and Mapping CapabilitiesThe system shall provide GIS-enabled functionality including:• Creation and visualization of property boundaries and project areas• Generation of maps using publicly available geospatial datasets (e.g., aerial imagery, soils, topography, land use)• Ability to import and export GIS data (e.g., shapefiles, GeoJSON)The system shall operate in a license-free GIS environment while maintaining compatibility with common GIS data formats.C. Site Visit Summary ToolThe system shall support the creation of Site Visit Summaries, including:• Automated generation of maps and spatial outputs• Structured data entry for landowner information, objectives, and observations• Creation of activity maps including points, lines, and polygons (e.g., management areas, roads, firebreaks, infrastructure)• Generation of narrative content based on user inputs and available datasets• Ability for users to edit and customize all generated content• Export of final reports in standard formats (e.g., PDF, DOCX)D. Management Plan ToolThe system shall support development of comprehensive management plans, including:• Stand delineation and classification• Development of management timelines and activity schedules• Integration of best management practices and habitat recommendations• Generation of stand-level descriptions and recommendations• Automated and user-editable narrative contentE. Reporting and AutomationThe system shall:• Automate generation of reports using geospatial and user-input data• Integrate external data sources where feasible (e.g., soil data, public datasets)• Allow configuration of report templates during the design phaseF. Mobile FunctionalityThe system shall provide mobile capabilities including:• Access via iOS and Android devices• Field data collection and editing• GPS-enabled mapping and navigationMobile functionality will be refined during the design phase and may include operational constraints based on system architecture.G. Administrative PortalThe system shall include an administrative interface to:• Manage users and permissions• Control access to projects and data• Configure workflows and templates 3.3 Technical Requirements• Web-based application architecture• License-free GIS environment• Compatibility with standard GIS data formats• API-based or approved integration with NRIS• Scalable database structure to support evolving data needs• Secure user authentication and role-based access 3.4 Data Hosting and Ownership• All data generated through the system shall remain the property of client.• Hosting environment (cloud or on-premise) will be determined during implementation• System shall support secure storage and retrieval of all project data• Hosting will be paid for through a separate agreement 3.5 Maintenance and SupportVendor shall provide a minimum of 3 months ongoing support including:• Bug fixes and system maintenance• Updates related to API or third-party data sources• Minor enhancements and performance improvements Qualification: REQUIRED SKILLS EXPERIENCE:Vendors must demonstrate:Experience developing GIS-enabled applicationsExperience with mobile and web-based platformsExperience integrating systems via APIsExperience in natural resource management, forestry, or related fields (preferred) About our Company DataSoft Technologies is a highly recognized provider of professional IT Consulting services in the US.
