User Experience Researcher

About the CompanyBlue Voice is hiring an experienced UX Researcher to lead qualitative research across one of our primary user populations. We build secure, AI-powered software for law enforcement and first responders, and our platform is used by departments across the country on web and mobile. As we expand our product line, we’re investing heavily in research-led product development and want to design from first principles with a deep understanding of our users.About the RoleIn this role, you’ll partner directly with our product, engineering, and leadership teams to plan and conduct qualitative research, including depth interviews, contextual inquiry, workflow observation, diary studies, and related methods. We’re looking for someone who can turn research into decisions, not just decks.ResponsibilitiesConduct research with users across law enforcement and adjacent first-responder rolesRecruit and schedule participants with support from our customer success and sales teamsSynthesize findings into actionable UX recommendations, friction/opportunity backlogs, personas, journeys, and executive-ready summariesPresent insights to product, engineering, and leadership teamsFacilitate working sessions that translate user insights into product directionBring strong, grounded UX recommendations based on what you learnHelp improve existing products by identifying KPIs, targets, and layout/product improvementsQualificationsHave led qualitative UX research, ideally in B2B SaaS or a product contextAre comfortable researching with users across a wide range of technical confidence levelsCan turn hours of interviews into something a busy product team will actually read and act onAre comfortable working under NDA with sensitive customer informationAre self-directed and comfortable shaping the research approach in a small, fast-moving teamRequired SkillsPublic sector, government, law enforcement, fire, or EMSChange-management or migration-focused researchAccreditation, certification, training, or compliance workflowsLight quantitative validation, such as small surveys or basic analysisFamiliarity with engineering workflows or scoping research into tickets/specsPreferred SkillsThe initial engagement is a focused 12-week research project covering one of our product expansion areas.
