Information Security Administrator - Information Technology (0326)

Nature of WorkUnder general direction, performs professional cybersecurity work supporting the County’s enterprise information security program. Responsibilities include monitoring security events, investigating suspicious activity, assisting with incident response, supporting vulnerability management efforts, and participating in security program activities such as audits, awareness training, and disaster recovery planning.This role provides exposure to multiple cybersecurity disciplines including security monitoring, threat analysis, vulnerability management, identity security, and incident response.Work ScheduleThis position requires full-time, in-office attendance during the initial six (6) months of employment to support onboarding and training.Following successful completion of the training period, the position may transition to a hybrid schedule consisting of three (3) days per week in the office and two (2) days per week working remotely, subject to operational needs and supervisor approval.Employees working remotely are required to maintain availability and must be able to respond to urgent IT matters within one (1) hour and is subject to change at any time.This position will require the successful completion of a Criminal Justice Information Services fingerprint and background clearance within 90 days of employment; this must be maintained throughout employment.Typical DutiesSecurity Monitoring and InvestigationMonitor enterprise security systems and review alerts indicating potential security threats or policy violationsInvestigate suspicious system, network, and authentication activityReview and analyze reported phishing emails or suspicious activityDocument findings and escalate confirmed threats according to established proceduresThreat Detection and AnalysisReview threat intelligence sources for indicators relevant to the County environmentAnalyze unusual patterns or activity that may indicate attempted compromiseAssist in identifying emerging risks and recommending mitigation strategiesVulnerability ManagementMonitor reported vulnerabilities affecting County systemsAssist with tracking remediation and patching activities across IT divisionsCoordinate with system owners to address identified security risksSecurity Operations SupportValidate operational status of enterprise security systems and monitoring platformsMaintain records of security events, investigations, and mitigation activitiesSupport investigation of suspected security incidents or policy violationsSecurity Program SupportAssist with security awareness initiatives and employee education effortsParticipate in periodic security reviews and access auditsSupport external assessments, and compliance activitiesParticipate in incident response exercises and after-action reviewsAdministrative and Operational SupportMaintain internal security documentation and proceduresTrack security-related tasks, incidents, and requests through the County ticketing systemCoordinate with IT divisions to support implementation of security improvementsEssential functions of this position include but are not limited to: walking; working with and around other staff and County employees; dealing with interruptions; repetitive motion (hand-wrist) for keyboarding; vision-acuity (near) for monitoring PC screen data; Color vision necessary for working with color coded cables; hearing and speech (ordinary conversation) for communicating with staff and customers; touch (finger dexterity) for keyboarding; Environmental hazards include electrical hazards associated with working with computers, servers and circuits, and potential for falls from ladders.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in communications, computer science, information processing or a related field and four years of information technology experience including two years managing large-scale, complex information technology security requirements including writing, implementing and maintaining security policies and development managing disaster preparedness/recovery plans; ORAssociate Degree in communications, computer science, information processing or a related field and five years of information technology experience including two years managing large-scale, complex information technology security requirements including writing, implementing and maintaining security policies and development managing disaster preparedness/recovery plans; ORSix years of information technology experience including two years managing large-scale, complex information technology security requirements including writing, implementing and maintaining security policies and development managing disaster preparedness/recovery plans; ORAny equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.Additional RequirementMust obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment.
