Press Brake Set Up Operator

Job Summary Compumeric Engineering is seeking an experienced Press Brake Set-Up Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC press brake equipment to produce high-quality sheet metal components according to engineering specifications. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with CNC Bystronic press brakes, can interpret blueprints, perform accurate machine set-ups, and ensure production runs efficiently while maintaining quality standards. This is a long-term opportunity for an individual who can take ownership of the Press Brake Department by coordinating daily set-ups, assigning work, supporting production flow, and providing guidance to team members. Schedule: Monday-Friday 2:00pm-10:30pm Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC press brake machines, including Bystronic press brakes, for a variety of production jobs. Perform complex machine set-ups, tooling changes, machine adjustments, and CNC program edits to ensure accurate part production. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and production specifications. Verify part dimensions using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, tape measures, angle gauges, and other inspection tools. Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and quality issues while making necessary adjustments to minimize downtime and scrap. Ensure first-piece, in-process, and final inspections meet customer and engineering specifications. Assign daily press brake work, coordinate machine set-ups, and monitor production schedules to maximize efficiency. Train and support press brake operators on proper machine operation, safety procedures, quality standards, and setup techniques. Promote a safe, organized, and productive work environment while ensuring compliance with all company safety and environmental policies. Maintain work area cleanliness and equipment in accordance with company standards. Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to meet production goals and delivery schedules. Perform preventive maintenance and report equipment issues requiring repair. Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience performing complete set-ups on CNC press brake machines. Experience with Bystronic CNC Press Brakes strongly preferred. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication specifications. Proficient in the use of precision measuring tools, including calipers, tape measures, angle gauges, and other inspection equipment. Ability to troubleshoot machine setups, tooling, and production issues. Strong mathematical skills for layout, measurements, bend calculations, and quality verification. Experience editing CNC programs; programming experience is a plus. Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple jobs, and maintain production schedules. Previous experience leading, training, or mentoring press brake operators is highly preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
