Laborer (Parks and Properties)

Laborer Position The City of Cleveland Heights is seeking a Laborer for the Division of Parks & Public Properties. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, depending on the season:Grass cutting and snow removal, horticulture activities, collection of leaves and litter.Operation of vehicles, including pickup trucks, salt trucks, snowplows, mowers and tractors.Operation of equipment, including chain saws and brush chippers.The ongoing daily maintenance of ballfields, pools, ice rink, basketball courts, tennis courts, picnic shelters, skate park, soccer fields and all outdoor/indoor restroom facilitiesMay also include indoor duties, including interior maintenance of buildingsThis position is for 40 hours a week but requires flexibility in scheduling and duties. Weekly distribution of hours determined by the needs of the division. Applicants should be able to work nights and weekends if required. This position receives instructions from the first or second shift foreman depending on the shift assigned.Requirements:A valid Ohio Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B is required for this position.Experience driving various types of larger vehicles including pickup and dump trucks is preferredBe in excellent physical condition with the ability to perform manual labor outdoors in all climatic conditionsThe ability to safely lift approximately 100 pounds independentlyKnowledge of safe work practices from the operation of equipment to the proper use of cleaning chemicalsCommunication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with coworkers, supervisors and the general publicAvailable for emergencies requiring overtime hoursReliable attendance is requiredEducation: High school diploma or equivalent required.The City of Cleveland Heights is an equal opportunity employer (EOE) committed to an alcohol / drug free workplace and to providing equal opportunities regardless of age, race, color, gender, religion, national origin, marital status, veteran status, disability or any other legally protected status.
