Warehouse Lead

Farm Table Delivery is seeking a dependable and organized part-time Warehouse Manager to join our team. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse and the efficient delivery of products to our customers. Who is Farm Table Delivery? Farm Table Delivery is the primary food hub in Western Iowa, managing the aggregation, distribution, and marketing of source-identified food products from local and regional Producers. We serve wholesale, retail, and institutional markets while supporting our own retail customers. Farm Table Delivery coordinates with six other food hubs throughout Iowa and Omaha via the Hub to Hub Network to maximize its reach efficiently. What You’ll Do Product Preparation and Delivery: Stage products for delivery routes, ensuring they are organized and ready for transport. Order Pick/Pack: Accurately pick products from inventory based on customer orders, ensuring that all items are correct and meet quality standards. Carefully pack orders to prevent damage during delivery, ensuring all items are secure and labeled correctly. Customer and Internal Communication: Represent Farm Table Delivery professionally during all customer-facing interactions and maintain clear communication with the internal team throughout the ordering and delivery process. Warehouse and Inventory Management: Maintain a clean and sanitary warehouse, stay in compliance with regulatory requirements, organize and store products efficiently, and manage inventory to ensure accurate handling and storage. Team Coordination and Equipment Maintenance: Oversee warehouse specialists to ensure efficient order fulfillment and keep the delivery vehicle and warehouse equipment well-maintained and compliant with safety regulations. Customer Service and Issue Resolution: Provide exceptional customer service, resolve any complaints or errors, and manage product samples and credit memos as needed. Occasional Deliveries: This position will serve as a back-up to our primary driver and may occasionally be needed to drive a refrigerated truck to either pick up product or run a delivery route in Central/Western Iowa or Eastern Nebraska. Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as needed to support the smooth operation of the warehouse and delivery services. A Typical Week Monday Mornings at 9:15am are the weekly all-staff conference call check-ins. These are dedicated to resolving the previous week’s ordering issues and communicating for the week ahead. Your Monday may include responding to the Procurement and Sales Managers to verify product availability. This is remote. Tuesdays are dedicated to receiving Local Producer orders, beginning the Pick/Pack for the week’s orders, and prepping for Wednesday’s Des Moines Receiving, among other tasks. The hours on this day could be flexible. This is on-site, in Harlan. Wednesdays Des Moines Products arrive in late afternoon and the warehouse team receives the inventory and finishes the Pick/Pack for the remaining orders. Expect to arrive at the warehouse around 3pm and stay until 8 or 9pm, or everything is ready for Thursday deliveries and communication with Procurement and Sales Managers is complete. This is on-site, in Harlan. Thursdays is the day that additional inventory is conducted and any general maintenance is completed. Hours on Thursday begin at 10am and end at 3pm, or until the week’s tasks are completed. This is on-site, in Harlan. Weekends may include responding to the Procurement and Sales Managers to verify product availability. This is remote. Location: Based in Harlan, Iowa Physical Demands: This role involves physical activities such as heavy lifting (75 pounds), working in cold and dry storage environments, moving inventory, and prolonged periods of standing. Equipment and Safety: Must adhere to all safety regulations, including food safety standards, and ensure the maintenance of all equipment.
