This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a complete listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this job class.)Tasks:Develop speech, language, feeding and swallowing therapy plans and deliver therapy to students in group and individual sessions. Evaluate and screen students for specific speech, language, feeding and swallowing impairments. Meet with parents and teacher and gather information about student abilities and concerns. Document evaluations, screenings and treatments and write case reports and summaries. Tailor teaching materials for each student's treatment plans.Physically assist and/or position multiply challenged students, increase fine motor control and maximize effectiveness of therapy sessions. May train Educational Assistant, Special Education Teachers and regular Teachers in assisting with speech and language development of assigned students.Knowledge, Skills and Other Characteristics:Knowledge of speech and language pathology, assessing needs and the range of effective potential treatment options.Knowledge of state and local laws and CFSD rules and regulations regarding speech and language assessment and treatment of students.Knowledge of universal precautions required when exposed to blood, mucus, saliva, urine, and bowel movements.Skill in assessing speech and language needs and developing and implementing treatment plans.Skill in using specialized equipment such as auditory trainers, audiometer and adaptive hardware and software.Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing.Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, administrators, students, parents and medical professionals.Special Requirements:Must have an Arizona Speech-Language Pathologist (PreK-12) certificate at the time of hireValid Arizona Driver's License and clear diving record.Valid Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint CardNondiscrimination/Equal Opportunity PolicyIn CFSD, we value a workforce that reflects the diversity of our students.
