The CNA supports student health and safety by administering basic first aid, assisting with medical procedures, maintaining clinic records, monitoring student health conditions, and supporting students with special medical needs under the supervision of a licensed nurse.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GEDValid Texas CNA certificationCurrent CPR/First Aid certificationKnowledge of basic healthcare procedures and infection controlAbility to maintain confidential medical recordsStrong communication and organizational skillsExperience working with children preferredEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide basic first aid and care for minor injuries and illnessesAssist students with daily health needs and personal careTake and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressureAdminister medications according to district policy and nurse directionAssist with health screenings such as vision, hearing, and scoliosis checksMonitor students with chronic medical conditionsMaintain accurate clinic records and documentationAssist with feeding, mobility, toileting, and hygiene needs for students with disabilitiesObserve and report changes in student condition to the supervising nurseSupport emergency response procedures when neededMaintain cleanliness and organization of the health clinicCommunicate professionally with parents, staff, and healthcare providersFollow all district, state, and federal health regulationsAttend required staff development and training sessionsPerform other duties as assigned by the supervising nurse or administratorPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift and assist studentsFrequent standing, walking, bending, and reachingAbility to respond quickly in emergency situationsWork Environment* School clinic or classroom setting* Exposure to illness, bodily fluids, and medical emergencies may occurSalary and Schedule* Typically follows the school district paraprofessional pay scale* Usually a 10-month or school-year position
