This is a fully embedded, hybrid role (50% remote / 50% on-site in Silicon Valley) working directly with one of our publicly-traded clients as a key primary compliance resource.This is not a generalist role. We are seeking a compliance-first professional with a track record of managing regulatory obligations across federal and state frameworks - someone who owns the compliance calendar, knows the agencies, and keeps the business out of trouble.Position DescriptionAs the embedded Regulatory Compliance Specialist, you will serve as our client’s principal point of accountability for regulatory compliance and licensing across their operating markets. You will own the processes, the deadlines, and the agency relationships that keep the business in good standing.We are looking for an independent, detail-obsessed legal professional who can anticipate compliance risk, manage multi-jurisdiction obligations simultaneously, and surface issues before they escalate. You are organized, agency-savvy, and thrive in a fast-paced in-house environment.Core ResponsibilitiesRegulatory Compliance (Primary Focus)●     Own and manage business license registrations and renewals across new and existing markets, including federal, state, and local jurisdictions●     Monitor, track, and respond to regulatory filings, submissions, and notices from federal and state authorities, including FCC, state PUC/PSC, and state AG offices●     Maintain and update contact, account, and registration information with regulatory agencies to ensure accuracy and compliance●     Monitor the compliance calendar, proactively flag upcoming deadlines, and manage all regulatory reporting obligations on time●     Draft and track responses to consumer complaints filed with regulatory bodies (FCC, state AGs)●     Identify compliance obligations triggered by new business activities, products, or market expansions, and advise the legal team accordingly●     Support regulatory submissions, prepare compliance documentation, and coordinate with outside counsel as neededLegal Team Support (Secondary)●     Intake and calendar litigation matters and external claims●     Monitor legal department intake channels and route matters per internal policies●     Review outside counsel invoices against billing guidelines using SimpleLegal/OnitMinimum Required Qualifications●     5+ years of regulatory compliance experience, with demonstrated ownership of multi-state licensing and/or agency filings●     Direct experience working with federal and/or state regulatory agencies (FCC, state PUC, state AG, or equivalent)●     Strong understanding of compliance frameworks applicable to the technology, connectivity, or telecommunications sectors●     Experience in a fast-paced in-house legal or compliance department●     Ability to work on a hybrid basis in the Silicon Valley area●     Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; paralegal certificate a plusPreferred Qualifications●     Experience in the connectivity, telecommunications, or cable industries●     Familiarity with multi-jurisdiction business licensing at state and local levels●     Experience with legal operations tools (SimpleLegal, Onit, or similar)●     Proficiency with Google Workspace●     Paralegal certificate or compliance certification (CCEP, CRCM, or equivalent)The Successful Candidate Will-       Have a compliance-first mindset—you don’t wait for problems to find you-       Be exceptionally organized, with a personal standard for zero missed deadlines-       Communicate clearly and confidently with internal stakeholders and external agency contacts-       Exercise sound judgment and know when to escalate-       Be a self-starter who takes ownership and doesn’t need to be managed toward the finish line-       Bring integrity, professionalism, and a collaborative attitude to every engagement-       Have a sense of humor—this team works hard and values good energyZentLaw is an award-winning, nationwide alternative legal services provider (ALSP) and an equal opportunity employer.
