The role will provide management and oversight with the authority to act in all quality control matters. Practical knowledge of waterproofing, air barriers, window / curtain wall systems, roofing systems and appropriate transition details between exterior assemblies.Qualifications:5+ years of experience working in construction field leadership roles such as Quality Control, Superintendent or Project Manager5 years of experience leading teams, coaching and developing fellow team membersStrong knowledge of building constructability in all definable features of workManagement of subcontracted testing firms and scope buyout for those sectionsExperience with construction-related software including Bluebeam, Microsoft office & ProcoreCompletion of the Construction Quality Management (CQM) within the last five (5) year, or the ability and willingness to obtain the CQM certification within 90 days of onboarding.Preferred:7-10+ years of experience in the quality assurance and quality controlFour-year degree in construction management or engineeringPrevious experience with commercial construction projects working as a Quality ManagerSkills:Strong critical thinking, creative problem-solving skillsAbility to approach issues from different perspectives to analyzeStrong communication and listening skillsAbility to build to relationships and deal with issues calmlyStrong verbal and written communication and leadership skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.Proficient in computer applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, Procore (or equivalent) and Bluebeam (or equivalent software)Attention to detail and high level of accuracyAbility to organize and prioritize responsibilitiesAbility to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervisionEmbodies personal integrity and keeps confidencesView every interaction as an opportunity to add value and enhance relationshipsOffice and Travel:Position is located in Fargo, ND and may have occasional travel to regional offices or headquarters.Regular travel up to 50% of the time depending upon local and regional project locations.Overnight travel occurs as needed for site visits and is generally limited to short 1-2 night stays rather than extended time away from home Office.Responsibilities and Tasks:Quality Assurance/Quality Control Program Management:Create & implement the QA/QC management system at site utilizing contracting office requirementsDefine and establish quality procedures, standards, and specifications as requiredReview contracting office requirements and ensure they are being metCoordinate with the site construction manager on all quality issuesCoordinate and chair QA/QC site weekly meetings with subcontractorsDistribute relevant QA/QC documentation to site trade partners and ensure quality requirements are being metInspection & Testing Oversight:Coordinate with quality inspections with all site trade partners and vendorsCoordinate all nondestructive testing on siteCoordinate all factory and on-site testingCoordinate all receipt inspections and deliveriesPerform and document mockup, first work inspections, and follow-up inspectionsObserve site functional performance testing and review construction mock-up designsPerform or guide enclosure-related construction observations, administration, and evaluation of contractor performancePreconstruction & Submittal Review:Perform and document preinstallation meetings for contractually defined scopes of workReview and approve all incoming submittals prior to issuance to contracting officeReview or guide review of construction drawings, technical specifications, reports, and other documentsWork with onsite team to maintain all project-related QA/QC documents (letters, submittals, shop drawings, schedules, etc.)Field Quality Control & Documentation:Update as-built drawings daily and maintain site setEnsure all quality control documentation is compiled and completed for as-built handoverConduct the three phases of control (Preparatory, Initial, Follow-up) for each definable feature of workVerify that quality-related site activities comply with applicable codes and standardsCode & Regulatory Compliance:Learn and understand building codes applicable to each unique projectEnsure regulations are being followed by all project participants, including subcontractorsCoordinate with project teams to ensure sound engineering principles and forensic best practices are appliedInvestigation & Problem-Solving:Perform investigations and site reviews to determine design and repair optionsDevelop building investigation reports and related construction documentsProvide recommendations to achieve project deliverables and quality standardsEnvironmental & Sustainability Reporting:Manage subcontractor responsibilities relating to environmental reporting (LEC, EPDs) for contracting officeOther Duties as assigned:Participate as an active member of the McGough's North Dakota Region & QA/QC teams. Contribute to shared goals and collaborate with colleagues on achievement of priorities.Collaborate with internal teams, contractors and other stakeholders to align efforts.
