Dock Worker
Position Overview:Dockhands are responsible for the day-to-day operation and upkeep of the Milwaukee Duffy and Retro fleet. This includes preparing boats for rentals, greeting customers, providing clear instructions, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards, and assisting with docking. Dockhands are the face of the business on the docks — professional attitude, strong work ethic, and teamwork are required at all times.⸻Core Responsibilities: • Arrive 1 hour before the first booking of the day for your assigned location (unless otherwise communicated). • Prep boats: clean thoroughly, stock supplies, wipe down surfaces, vacuum floors, and ensure all equipment is in working order. • Greet customers, go over waivers, explain safe operation of boats, and cover all navigation rules and boundaries (bridge clearance, no-go zones, speed). • Assist with safe departure and docking of boats — actively direct customers and ensure slow, safe docking to avoid damage. • Enforce company safety rules and address unsafe behavior. • Monitor boat returns for damage and cleanliness. Report any issues immediately to management. • Apply and communicate any damage or late fees to customers when needed. • Handle light maintenance, deck scrubbing, battery checks, etc • Keep dock areas clean, organized, and professional in appearance. • Complete any additional tasks assigned by the General Manager.⸻Availability & Shift Expectations: • If you are scheduled on a day — even if there are no bookings at your assigned location when you check — you are still considered “on call” for that day. • You may be called in for cleaning, maintenance, or to assist at another location. • If there is a large break in bookings (2.5+ hours), clocking out is required unless otherwise directed. You can message the GM to ask if there’s work needed elsewhere to retain hours. • Shift swaps or coverage changes must be communicated directly to the GM. The schedule is final unless approved changes are made.
