Staff Accountant

Controller PositionTrueStone is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Controller to join our Finance and Accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with proven experience in financial management, reporting, and controls. As Controller, you will play a critical leadership role in overseeing the company's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls. You will work closely with senior leadership to ensure financial integrity, support strategic decision-making, and drive the overall financial performance of the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and post journal entries, including accruals and prepaidsMaintain and reconcile general ledger accountsPerform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activitiesReconcile bank and balance sheet accountsAssist in the preparation of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow)Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as neededReview invoices, expense reports, and ensure proper coding of transactionsAssist with audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentationAnalyze variances and investigate discrepanciesMaintain accurate financial records and documentationSupport budgeting and forecasting activitiesAssist in improving accounting processes and internal controlsQualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field23 years of accounting experience preferred2-3 years of real estate experience preferredStrong understanding of GAAPProficiency in Microsoft ExcelExperience with accounting systems (e.g., ERP systems) preferredStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities Benefits and Perks: Hybrid work schedule (4 days onsite; 1 day work from home) & early FridaysGenerous PTO and paid holidaysComprehensive health, dental and vision coverage with FSA or HSA optionsDiscounted life insurancePre-tax commuter benefitsProfessional development NY Pay Transparency: The pay range for this position is ($70,000 $75,000) annually based on skills and experience.
