Sr. Analyst, Mergers & Acquisitions
Position Summary
We are recruiting an experienced M&A Senior Analyst to join our Strategy Team, reporting to the Director of Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions. This position will be based at The Scotts Miracle‑Gro world headquarters in Marysville, Ohio. While this role requires an in‑office presence, we offer a flexible hybrid working model.
The Senior Analyst will be a key contributor to high‑visibility projects that support the company’s top initiatives. Responsibilities include target analysis, deal sourcing, conducting industry research, and creating financial models to identify potential M&A targets that fit within our strategic priorities. The analyst will also manage M&A projects from the cross‑functional due diligence process through integration planning and deal closing, and provide support to broader strategy initiatives.
Responsibilities
Research, evaluate, and summarize potential M&A targets using strategic frameworks and valuation modeling to determine strategic fit.
Collaborate with cross‑functional project teams, focusing on planning, coordinating, and executing transaction‑related due diligence and integration planning activities.
Effectively plan and facilitate meetings to reach conclusions and consensus, monitor projects, and solve problems to keep them moving forward.
Identify and track risks, actions, issues, decisions, dependencies, and synergies to ensure successful diligence and integration.
Support a wide range of high‑visibility projects to answer urgent strategic questions from C‑level executives.
Collaborate with a team of high performers on ad‑hoc projects and recurring market and competitive research tasks.
Work with senior executives and business units to identify and define initiatives that support corporate and business unit strategy.
Create presentations to communicate the status and results of due diligence and integration activities to project teams and senior executives.
Qualifications
3–5 years of relevant experience in an M&A environment, including diligence coordination and/or post‑merger integration at a management/strategic consulting firm, investment bank, or highly acquisitive organization.
Self‑motivation, strong organizational skills, quantitative and spreadsheet expertise, and an "above and beyond" attitude to meet deadlines.
Proven success in leading cross‑functional teams in a high‑paced environment.
Track record of high‑level individual contribution and increasing responsibility in planning, diligence, and integration.
Comfortable with a changing, fluid, ambiguous environment.
Ability to meet aggressive deadlines.
Balanced IQ/EQ suitable for growth into senior roles.
Collaborative, open work ethic.
Advanced Excel and Google Workspace skills.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Economics preferred.
Compensation
The starting budgeted pay range is $99,700.00–$117,300.00 per year. Pay will be determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. For remote candidates in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon, or Washington, state‑required pay thresholds will be applied.
