Head of Legal - Funds

Our client, a alternative asset manager focused in the PE and private credit space, is looking to make its first legal hire. The firm is seeking a Head of Legal to own the legal function within the firm. The person in this role will work closely with senior leadership and partner with the wider business, especially the investment team, on ongoing transactions. This individual will also work closely with the Chief Compliance Officer on risk management frameworks. Responsibilities:Provide legal oversight and strategic advice on a wide range of organizational, operational, and transactional including legal and regulatory due diligence throughout the deal processDraft and negotiate different contracts, fund formation and investor relation documentsPartner with compliance leadership to strengthen risk‑management practicesAddress ongoing legal needs across the organization as neededEffective management of outside counselQualifications:Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school7+ YOE of relevant legal work in PE or investment management obtained in either Big Law OR In-HouseStrong understanding of investment fund structures and related operational, compliance, and reporting considerations
