Lifestyle Host

KATU, the ABC affiliate in Portland, OR, is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and experienced Host for our live lifestyle show, AM Northwest. AM Northwest is a live talk show that combines entertainment, community, lifestyle and paid promotional segments. The live show airs Monday through Friday 9am to 10am every week. The ideal host will conduct live and taped paid and non-paid interviews, segments and packages, go live in the field, participate in product demonstrations, produce segments in the studio and in the field. You will be expected to produce daily content on a variety of platforms including the internet, social networking sites, in addition to the live broadcast.No day will look the same as a host, however, the main responsibilities of the role will include:Assists with daily show preparation and content generationAbility to conduct live and taped interviews in studio and in the fieldAssist with booking guests and writing teasesParticipates in pre and post-show meetingsContributes content to the website and all digital platformsInteracts with viewers on social mediaProduce sales segments (live and pre-taped) in rundownCreate and order graphics for paid/non-paid segmentsCall and schedule sales clients for in studio interviews and shootsWrite and deliver interviews and stories in a clear and concise mannerAll other duties as directed by managementAdditionally, This Person Should Have…A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experienceA minimum of 2 years of on-air hosting experience on a Lifestyle Show or equivalentStrong interviewing and interpersonal skillsMust work professionally and collaboratively and help foster a team environment with co-workersProfessional interaction and collaboration with clients and guests is requiredThe ability to carry out sales segments as assignedSharp judgmentExcellent technical skillsThe ability to work well independentlyExperience with live shots is requiredExperience with Live-U is a plusMust have and maintain a valid driver's license and a good driving recordProficiency with computers, telephones, and other office equipmentThe ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyFlexibility to work any shift, including weekends and holidays as neededSinclair is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and a drug free workplace.
