Machine Operator/Machinist
Fireblast Global is a fast-paced, high-mix shop that manufactures and installs various industrial systems and controls in a variety of fire training simulators used by military, colleges, and first responders. We’re looking for an experienced Machinist who is dedicated to continuous improvement, quality work, and building products that help our customers learn how to save lives and protect property. Under the direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor/Lead, the Machinist will set up and operate a 3-axis 3D Ermaksan Laser and Press Brake. This requires knowledge of reading blueprints, solving problems, and tooling selection.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set up and operate machinery to cut, bend, form, and shape metal sheets according to blueprints and work orders for the purpose of completing projects safely and within established time frames.
Perform set ups independently.
Read travelers to determine specified operation code and enter commands to retrieve programmed instructions.
Select and install appropriate tooling based on material and job requirements
Ensure products meet quality standards and examine parts for defects and completeness.
Insert material sheets into holding fixture of laser machine and press console buttons to activate laser beam that automatically trims and cuts metal/aluminum (other materials)
Remove trimmed/cut parts from holding fixture and examines parts for defects and completeness of trim
Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
Must obtain first article prior to production
Deburr parts as required
Ability to read calipers
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems.
Prepare and maintain a variety of reports and records, including time reporting.
Support Lean and 5S initiatives.
Participate in daily continuous improvement projects.
Evaluate processes and participate daily in the implementation of improvements to the process.
Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, keeping your area clean and organized etc.
Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
Neat in workmanship, specifically in regards to best practices in machining
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Learn and teach new team members
Perform other related duties as required.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Strong background in sheet metal forming and fabrication.
Strong knowledge and familiarity with CNC Laser Cutting
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or 5S (Preferred)
Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, heavy lifting and carrying. Job requires working inside and outside in environments that present occasional exposure to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
Ability to learn through verbal and written instructions, retain knowledge to share and teach fellow team members.

EDUCATION
High School diploma or equivalent
