Staff Software Engineer - Core Services

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer - Core Services to join the team of a leader in the Consumer Technology space. This role will lead work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a technology-driven environment.Location: San Francisco, CA - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship availableCompensation: $240,000 – $275,000 annuallyResponsibilities Build and maintain shared data access libraries and SDKs for multiple data sources Design and implement event-driven data flows ensuring reliability and visibility on failures Create systems for data lineage, governance, and compliance logging for enterprise needs Instrument the data platform with monitoring tools and define SLOs for performance metrics Contribute to infrastructure cost optimization through query efficiency and workload managementQualifications 8+ years of experience in building platform and data infrastructure Strong proficiency in Python with hands-on experience using Prefect, FastAPI, dbt Experience with SQL and managing databases like Snowflake, Redshift, and Postgres Familiarity with AWS technologies including S3, RDS, EKS, and EventBridge Experience with Kubernetes for deployment, debugging, and scaling of services Knowledge of data orchestration tools and frameworks like Prefect and dbt Understanding of data governance practices including RBAC and PII handling Fluency with AI-assisted development tools for coding and debuggingBenefits Opportunity to influence foundational architectural decisions for data platforms Collaborate with a small, impactful team with a significant cross-departmental reach Work in a modern, AI-native development environment with emphasis on CI/CD innovationsOur client is an equal opportunity employer.
