Prospective Payment System (PPS) Coordinator

Prospective Payment System (PPS) Coordinator The PPS Coordinator is responsible for planning, developing, and overall coordination of activities that support the PPS process for the inpatient rehabilitation unit. Assures compliance with all State and Federal requirements related to and oversees the accuracy and timely completion/transmission of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility-Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI). Roles and Responsibilities: Accurately completes and transmits the IRF-PAI for each rehabilitation patient Performs clinical chart reviews and collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to determine appropriate etiologic diagnosis, impairment group code, and comorbid conditions Ensures the presence of supporting documentation, and provides staff education to ensure compliance with CMS guidelines Compiles data for monthly reports, performance improvement dashboards, and regulatory tracking Assists unit with daily operations and patient flow Required Skills and Experience: Associates degree in healthcare discipline Understanding of Medicare rules and regulations as they relation to inpatient rehabilitation Must maintain compliance to all safety protocols and procedures Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or current New York State License for RN, LPN, Social Work, PT, OT, SLP Experience with ICD 10 coding Experience in rehabilitation or a closely related field Hands on patient care experience Physical Requirements: Physical Requirements: Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., Use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
