Together, these elements support Mystic Valley’s mission of providing every student with access to a world-class education.Position SummaryThe Science Teacher is responsible for implementing Mystic Valley Regional Charter School’s science curriculum for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. Instruction is grounded in the Core Knowledge program, both in curriculum and methodology. At the high school level, teachers may also support the school’s rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) program through IB science coursework and instruction.ResponsibilitiesImplement the documented science curriculum and, where applicable, International Baccalaureate coursework.Teach assigned science classes using Core Knowledge and IB instructional methodology.Develop and deliver lessons aligned to clear learning objectives and rigorous academic standards.Assess student progress regularly and complete progress reports and report cards as required.Administer standardized testing as directed by the Science Department Chair and Leadership Team.Collaborate regularly with colleagues in the Science Department regarding curriculum, instruction, assessment, data analysis, and instructional practices.Implement the school’s assertive discipline model with fidelity and consistency.Attend all required staff meetings and participate in professional development activities.Perform additional duties as assigned by the Science Department Chair and/or Assistant Director.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, General Science, or a related field required.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and make sound instructional decisions.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the broader school community.Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.Knowledge of science content standards, instructional practices, and applicable educational laws and procedures.Ability to design and implement lessons aligned with school objectives and student needs.Experience assessing student performance and interpreting academic data preferred.Strong collaboration, leadership, and classroom management skills.Successful completion of applicable MTEL examinations within one year of employment.This position reports directly to the Science Department Chair and is evaluated annually.Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is an equal opportunity employer.
