Jr. Technician, QC

POSITION PURPOSE:Briefly summarize why your job exists.Provide Laboratory support for Geismar Production units to ensure proper and safe equipment operation in accordance with Plant Operation policies and procedures and OSHA safety rules and regulations. This includes but is not limited to working with manufacturing and technical personnel to test finished goods, in-process materials, and incoming raw materials; assisting with experimental and developmental efforts; and reporting results using LIMS, logbooks, datasheets and other forms.MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:State the minimum type and level of training and/or formal education and experience required to do your job.- Associate Degree in Chemical Technology or equivalent- Demonstrated ability to work multiple tasks with minimal supervision- Knowledge of EH&S regulations and laboratory safety- Excellent computer skills (MS Office, LIMS and SAP preferred)- 2 years laboratory experience- Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift- Ability to work overtime as needed- Demonstrated mechanical aptitudePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- BS Science related field preferred- 2 years' experience in a chemical manufacturing environment- 2 years of polymer, rubber, or plastics laboratory experiencePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Indicate a percentage of time you spend in the normal course of performing the job.- Work a 12-hour rotating shift- Work overtime as needed- Perform repetitive tasks- Detect defects and errors- Communicate clearly and accurately- Work under pressure- Read and comprehend job procedures- Standing- Walking during 12-hour shifts- Emergency Response Team- Reaching (Above shoulder level or below - activity in these positions)- Pushing/Pulling- Lifting (Weights up to 60 lbs)- Hearing (Voice, mechanical, electronic)- Vision (Colors, mechanical motion, steam, vapor, fluids, reading, specks/contamination in samples)- Use of Hands (keyboards, lab tests, cleaning equipment)- Sense of Smell (Chemicals, burning materials)- Mobility (Able to perform a variety of tasks)- Turning/Twisting (Able to pivot/turn/twist and perform function)
