Learn more and join our mission at ProFarm.com.The Associate Scientist, Quality Control & Archivist performs material and product testing, maintains all records generated or utilized by the department, develops and initiates test protocols, independently investigates product failures, writes accurate and concise technical reports, and archiving records and raw data accordance with principles of GLP. The associate position should possess experience in manufacturing and GLP environments.Responsibilities And DutiesResponsibilities include:Perform raw material and finished product sampling, testing, and disposition assuring adequate, appropriate, and complete documentationPerform a variety of physical chemistry and wet lab analysesPrepare a variety of media types and laboratory reagentsIsolate and maintain bacterial and fungal culturesConduct insect, plant, microbial, and other biological assays in the laboratory and in vivo efficacy tests in the growth chamber/greenhouseAssist Study Directors in the conduct of GLP studiesCalibrate and maintain test stations and equipmentMaintain product retainsAccurately obtain and record test data and prepare detailed reports on the resultsAssist in the investigation of complaints, corrective actions, and nonconforming materialsComply with quality systems procedures, as applicableMaintain awareness of R&D and manufacturing policies, safety concerns, and environmental conditions that can affect product qualityReview, update, and write laboratory procedures reportsAssist in the training of QC staff and InternsArchive records and raw data associated with GLP studiesEnsure that storage and retrieval of record is documentedOther Duties And ResponsibilitiesComply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, and report all unsafe activities to appropriate supervisorPerform general department maintenanceParticipate in efforts to achieve departmental and company goalsProvide leadership to others through example and by sharing knowledge and skillsPerform other duties as assignedReqiurementsEducation and ExperienceThis position shall preferably have prior experience working in a regulated laboratory setting. An M.S. in a Chemical or Biological discipline Or a BS in a Chemical or Biological discipline plus two years of experience is required for this position.Knowledge, skills, and abilities:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write detailed reports, business correspondence, and procedures.Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and peers.Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as area, length, and volume. Ability to calculate and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and statistical functions to practical situations.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism such as graphs, formulas, and scientific equations.Intermediate personal computer skills including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics.Ability to plan and work multiple tasks and projects simultaneously under stringent deadlines.Working ConditionsMust have manual dexterity sufficient to handle items and perceive attributes of objects, and be able to perform light physical, non-strenuous daily activities of a productive/technical nature. Must be able to function in an indoor office, laboratory, and production setting. .
