We recruit and place physicians, advanced-practice providers, allied health and nursing personnel, on short-term and long-term assignments nationwide.Location: Durham VA Medical Center (VAMC), 508 Fulton Street Durham, NC 27705-3875Schedule: Day, Night, and Weekend Shifts (rotating as needed)Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time (as applicable)Position SummaryThe Durham VA Medical Center is seeking a qualified and dedicated Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist to provide high-quality diagnostic imaging services for our Veteran population. The CT Technologist performs routine and advanced CT procedures while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and diagnostic accuracy. This role requires flexibility to support day, night, weekend, and holiday coverage as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform CT examinations according to established protocols, physician orders, and VA standardsVerify patient identity, review clinical history, and ensure exam appropriatenessOperate CT scanners and related imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic imagesAdminister contrast media as prescribed, observing proper safety and monitoring proceduresMaintain strict adherence to radiation safety principles (ALARA) and infection control policiesMonitor patients during procedures and respond to changes in conditionAccurately document procedures and patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR)Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other technologists to ensure timely diagnostic servicesParticipate in quality assurance, equipment troubleshooting, and performance improvement activitiesComply with VA policies, Joint Commission standards, and federal regulationsProvide coverage for day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts as requiredRequired QualificationsARRT Certification in Computed Tomography (CT) – requiredGraduate of an accredited radiologic technology programCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationKnowledge of CT anatomy, protocols, and radiation dose optimizationAbility to work independently and in a fast-paced clinical environmentStrong communication skills and commitment to patient-centered carePreferred QualificationsPrior experience performing CT scans in an acute-care or hospital settingExperience working within a federal healthcare system or with Veteran populationsFamiliarity with VA electronic health record systems (CPRS/VistA preferred)Physical & Work RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periodsAbility to lift, move, and assist patients with or without reasonable accommodationWork in a healthcare environment with exposure to ionizing radiation and medical equipment
