Polymer Application Technologist
Kelly Science & Clinical is currently seeking candidates for a Polymer Application Technologist position at the R&D facility of a chemical company in West Houston. The main responsibility of the position is to setup, operate, and troubleshoot polymer process equipment in support of product development, application development, and technical service.Job ResponsibilitiesOperate production equipment including extruder, film line, injection molding machine, roll mill, hot press, etc.Propose and/or implement equipment modifications based on type of polymer material usedPrepare testing specimen with appropriate methods and equipmentConduct lab tests on a wide range of samples utilizing a variety of methodsReport testing data to senior scientists and engineersKeep lab procedures up to date, write new procedures as requiredMaintain housekeeping of application workshopQualificationsHigh School diploma with 8 years of experience in thermoplastic polymer processingBS degree in Polymer Science or related field with 3 years of experience in thermoplastic polymer processingGood mechanical troubleshooting skills preferredAbility to set goals and identify the processes necessary to accomplish themAbility to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through on assignmentsAbility to read, interpret and follow written job instructions and safety proceduresGood communications skills including the ability to clearly communicate to all levels of the organizationExcellent computer skills, including MS Office and the ability to learn advanced softwareThis is a temp to hire position with a Monday-Friday day shift work schedule.
