Our mission is to revolutionize the agricultural, materials, and environmental sectors through the development of seaweed-based products. Position Overview:We are seeking a skilled and innovative candidate with a strong background in material science and engineering, with a focus on developing bioplastics from renewable sources to join our R&D team. Industry experience with standard polymer processing techniques is highly preferred. This role will involve exploring the potential of seaweed as a sustainable feedstock for bioplastic production and leading projects from concept to commercialization.Key Responsibilities:Formulation and compounding of melt-processable bioplastic derived from seaweed biomass.Design and conduct experiments to evaluate the properties and performance of seaweed-based bioplastics.Analyze and interpret data to drive product development and innovation.Assist in the development of other seaweed co-products. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in bioplastic technology.Maintain a safe working environment and employ best practices throughout development Qualifications:Master’s degree preferred or Bachelor’s (+2 year experience) in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.Experience with melt-processable techniques including twin screw extrusion, film-cast extrusion, blown film extrusion, and injection molding. Strong knowledge of polymer chemistry and material characterization techniques: tensile strength, permeability, FTIR, Spectroscopy, TGA, DSC, and DMA. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.Strong communication skills and ability to present complex information clearly.Passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship.What We Offer:Competitive salary and benefits packageOpportunity to work on cutting-edge sustainable technologiesCollaborative and innovative work environmentProfessional development and growth opportunitiesCommitment to work-life balance
