EHS Intern (Summer 2026)

Job OverviewWe are seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Intern to support our mission of creating a healthy and safe environment for our employees and community. You will have exposure to the development and implementation of our EHS programs across engineering labs, manufacturing spaces, shipyards, and maritime testing operations.You will work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and facilities teams to help maintain a safe workplace and support compliance with environmental and occupational health and safety regulations. This internship is ideal for students interested in advanced manufacturing environments and eager to make an impact in the defense tech industry.ResponsibilitiesAssist in developing and maintaining EHS policies, procedures, and training materialsConduct workplace health & safety inspections and hazard/risk assessments in laboratories, manufacturing, shipyard, field activities, and test environmentsSupport incident reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective action trackingHelp maintain OSHA compliance documentation, safety data sheets (SDS), and chemical inventoriesAssist with environmental compliance efforts across air, water, hazardous materials, and waste management programsSupport the creation of EHS training programs for employees and internsTrack and analyze EHS metrics and performance dataCollaborate with engineering teams to ensure safe design and testing practicesSupport initiatives including regulatory reports, inspections, information requests, internal audits, emergency drills, management system improvements, and program development and assessmentsDevelop regulatory requirement resources to provide stakeholder guidancePerform research projects on programs and draft programming requirementsQualificationsCurrently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science and Management, Industrial Hygiene, or a related fieldInterest in manufacturing, robotics, maritime systems, or defense technology environmentsBasic knowledge of OSHA standards, hazard identification, and risk mitigationFamiliarity with hazardous materials management and environmental regulationsExperience with lab safety, manufacturing safety, field operations, or maritime safety practicesExperience with EHS reporting or compliance softwareStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environmentPhysical DemandsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerOccasional standing and walking within the officeManual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipmentVisual acuity to read screens, documents, and reportsOccasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office suppliesLifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages)
