Jobs For Alabama's Graduates (Jag) Specialist (7-12)Reports to: Principal, or Designee/ CTE DirectorFLSA Status: ExemptJob Goal: The JAG Specialist is responsible for implementing the Jobs for Alabama's Graduates program by providing classroom instruction, leadership development, employability training, career exploration, and individualized support services to students. The specialist works to ensure students graduate from high school and successfully transition into postsecondary education, military service, or meaningful employment.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferredValid Alabama educator certification in Career and Technical Education or eligibility for certification preferredExperience working with at-risk youth and diverse student populationsDriver's License: Possession of a valid driver's license and having transportation (with proper insurance) to perform job duties.Suitable and fit Fieldprint background check.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Recruit, identify, and retain eligible students for participation in the JAG programProvide daily instruction in employability skills, leadership development, career readiness, and life skills using the JAG curriculum modelDevelop lesson plans aligned with state standards and JAG competenciesMaintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, student engagement, and personal growthAssist students in overcoming barriers that may interfere with academic and career successMonitor student attendance, grades, behavior, and graduation progressProvide individualized guidance, mentoring, and support services to studentsCoordinate work-based learning experiences, career exploration activities, job shadowing, internships, and community service projectsOrganize and supervise the student Career Association and leadership development activities.Establish and maintain partnerships with local businesses, industries, workforce agencies, and community organizations.Assist students with resume writing, interview preparation, job applications, and postsecondary planningMaintain accurate student records, program documentation, follow-up data, and required reports in accordance with JAG and Alabama State Department of Education requirements.Conduct follow-up services for program graduates for the required period after graduationParticipate in professional development, training sessions, meetings, and conferences related to JAG and Career and Technical EducationCollaborate with school counselors, administrators, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders to support student successPromote positive public relations for the JAG program and Career and Technical Education initiativesPerform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or administrationKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of adolescent development and intervention strategiesAbility to motivate, mentor, and build rapport with students from diverse backgroundsStrong communication, presentation, leadership, and organizational skillsAbility to analyze student performance data and implement improvement strategiesEffective time management, prioritization, and recordkeeping skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders and community partnersAbility to develop positive relationships with students, parents, school personnel, employers, and community partnersKnowledge of workforce readiness, career planning, and employability skillsAbility to effectively train students in employability and leadership skillsProficiency in technology and data management systemsAbility to create a positive, student-centered learning environment that enhances self-esteem and successDemonstrate accountability for implementing the JAG Model with fidelity and professionalismPhysical Requirements:Ability to sit, stand, walk, and supervise students for extended periodsAbility to lift and carry instructional materials and equipment as neededAbility to travel for student activities, employer visits, and professional development opportunitiesTerms of Employment: 9 months (187 days)Salary and Benefits: Shall be paid in accordance with the Marengo County Board of Education's approved compensation plan.Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with local board policy, Alabama State Department of Education guidelines, and JAG program performance standards.This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the individual assigned to this position.
