Statistical Analyst
ResponsibilitiesThe Statistical Analyst will be responsible to providing guidance and direct analytical support to the UM research community including faculty, research scientists, and graduate students.Proposal support: Provide guidance for grant proposal development on study design and sample size requirements to improve grant competitiveness. Budget time and cost for proposed analytical support.Analytical support: Provide guidance and direct support data analysis incorporating methods such as linear models, Bayesian statistics, machine learning/AI, or other appropriate techniques.Publication/presentation support: Provide guidance and direct support for interpretation of results. Co-author publications, presentations, and reports.Campus Engagement: Build relationships across UM to proactively educate the research community about skills and services available. Engage in conversations and critical thinking sessions with the research community.The Statistical Analyst will teach one upper-level undergraduate/graduate-level statistics course per semester on statistical methods for graduate students across disciplines (STAT 451/452).QualificationsMaster’s degree in statistics, mathematics, or related field. Knowledge of sampling, experimental design, linear models, and a statistics coding language (R, Python, C++ or similar language). Strong communication skills. Experience teaching statistics.
