Engineering Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: The Engineering Manager oversees the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency. Ensures the engineering team and other manufacturing departments work together cohesively. Reviews, evaluates, and implements engineering changes and specification requirements. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Oversee daily engineering activities · Develop high-level project plans to achieve engineering and project goals and assign roles and responsibilities to accountable personnel. · Support business development and executive teams in the development of technical proposals and review of estimates, program implementation, and revenue forecasts. · Hire, train, and mentor other engineering staff, and evaluate employee performance. · Write and maintain process specifications and quality system procedures for relevant functions, such as composite fabrication, control of digital product definition, and tooling control. · Manage engineering configuration and release, review and approve engineering changes. · Lead material review board to examine discrepant product and assign disposition. · Design and lead manufacturing process improvement efforts. · Evaluate the advantages, feasibility, and implementation of new technologies, equipment, or processes to expand core competency, save cost, and support strategic growth. · Direct customer qualifications for new equipment, processes, facilities, and products. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: · Demonstrated success in production within a fast-paced, technically focused environment is essential. Must be hands on and capable of producing, managing, and implementing manufacturing processes. · Must be results-oriented and demonstrate analytical thinking, innovation, flexibility in dealing with changing and ambiguous situations. · Demonstrated success working in highly collaborative multi-function environment, with a track record of accomplishment with measurable business impact and managing within a matrix environment. · Demonstrated success implementing lean initiatives and standard operating procedures within a manufacturing environment. · Excellent project management skills including successful leadership of multiple projects from planning phase through completion. · Excellent management skills including superb communication, delivery of results, consultative skills, partnership skills and team building. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred. Experience: 10+ years of relevant education or experience in engineering or related field.
