Lead Software Engineer – WMS & Operations Systems

We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer – WMS & Operations Systems to support and enhance warehouse and supply chain technology, with a primary focus on Manhattan WMS (WMOS). This role will serve as a key techno-functional partner between IT and warehouse operations, translating business requirements into scalable system solutions while providing hands-on technical expertise across configuration, integrations, reporting, testing, and production support.The ideal candidate brings deep Manhattan WMOS experience, a strong understanding of warehouse operations and supply chain processes, and the ability to lead technical initiatives while mentoring junior team members.Location: Camden, NJ – Greater Philadelphia AreaSchedule: Hybrid; 2 remote days per week (Wednesdays and Fridays) after the first 90 daysBase Salary: $115,000–$140,000, depending on skills, experience, and qualificationsResponsibilitiesLead the design, configuration, enhancement, and ongoing support of Manhattan WMS (WMOS), including inbound, outbound, and inventory functionality.Partner with warehouse operations and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate business needs into effective system solutions.Author business requirements, functional design documents, technical specifications, test plans, and other system documentation.Design, develop, and support integrations between WMS, ERP, TMS, and other related enterprise systems.Design, create, and modify reports based on operational and business requirements.Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and coordinate resolution across technical, business, and vendor teams.Support WMS upgrades, implementations, enhancements, and testing activities, including SIT and UAT.Develop test plans, test data, and test cases aligned with system design and business requirements.Work with project managers, programmers, architects, analysts, and project leads to define development tasks, schedules, and resource requirements.Develop high-level technical and implementation solutions and provide direction to junior technical staff.Review software development processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.Collaborate with third-party vendors and cross-functional teams on system initiatives and issue resolution.Provide knowledge transfer, mentorship, and training to technical teams, system users, and support personnel.Facilitate individual and group training related to system enhancements and software upgrades.Stay current on the Manhattan product roadmap and evaluate future capabilities and initiatives.Ensure system capabilities remain aligned with warehouse operations and broader business processes.Follow established PMO methodology and project delivery standards.Participate in rotational 24x7 production support coverage.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.8–10 years of experience supporting WMS, supply chain, or related operational systems.Hands-on experience with Manhattan WMOS, particularly inbound, outbound, and inventory modules.Strong understanding of warehouse operations, distribution processes, and the broader supply chain environment.Proven techno-functional experience bridging business requirements and technical solutions.Experience developing and supporting integrations between WMS and systems such as ERP and TMS platforms.Working knowledge of SQL/PLSQL and familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.Experience supporting business-critical production environments and troubleshooting complex application or integration issues.Experience with system implementations, upgrades, and SIT/UAT testing.Technical background supporting the development and maintenance of enterprise business applications.Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities with a logical approach to issue resolution.Ability to work independently, take ownership of initiatives, and develop solutions to business requirements.Leadership and project management skills, including the ability to guide and mentor junior programmers.Ability to estimate the time and resources required to complete technical initiatives.Strong organizational, written/verbal communication, and presentation skills.Experience collaborating with business stakeholders, vendors, developers, architects, and other cross-functional teams.Ability to adapt to evolving technologies, systems, and business requirements.
