Coordinator, KEYS Student Services (100%...Next job Deputy Superintendent of Student ServicesEmployer Lynn Public Schools Location Lynn, MA Closing date May 4, 2026View more categoriesView less categoriesSpecialty Student & Scholar Services Position Type Other Hours Full-time Employment Type Permanent Organization Type College / UniversityApply on websiteYou need to sign in or create an account to save a job.Send jobJob DetailsDeputy Superintendent of Student ServicesPosition SummaryThe Deputy Superintendent of Student Services serves as a key member of the Superintendent’s executive cabinet and is responsible for designing, aligning, and leading a coherent system of student services that is fully integrated with the district’s Instructional Core.This role ensures that all students-particularly multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and other high-needs populations-have equitable access to rigorous, grade-level instruction.The Deputy Superintendent leads the strategic alignment of special education, multilingual learner services, social-emotional learning, and student supports with Tier 1 instruction, ensuring that services are embedded within classroom practice rather than operating as parallel systems.Key ResponsibilitiesInstructional Systems LeadershipLead the integration of student services with the district’s Instructional Core to ensure equitable access to rigorous instructionEnsure all supports (SPED, ML, SEL) are aligned to and strengthen Tier 1 instructionEstablish and monitor clear expectations for grade-level rigor, scaffolding, and student engagementMulti-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)Design and implement a coherent MTSS framework prioritizing strong Tier 1 instructionEnsure interventions supplement-not replace-core instructionMonitor effectiveness of supports through student experience and instructional dataProfessional Learning & Adult DevelopmentDesign and oversee professional learning systems that build educator capacity in:Instructional planningScaffold designLanguage developmentEnsure PLCs are structured, focused, and aligned to the Instructional CoreSupport lesson study and practice-based inquiry cyclesLeadership DevelopmentCoach and develop principals to lead instructional improvementEnsure principals are equipped to:Lead effective PLCsProvide aligned instructional feedbackMonitor rigor and student engagementInstructional Coherence & AccountabilityEstablish consistency across schools through:One planning protocolOne walkthrough toolAligned feedback systemsMonitor instructional quality and reduce variability across classroomsData-Driven ImprovementUse data to identify gaps in access to rigorous instructionLead system-level decisions based on instructional trends-not just outcomesPartner with Data & Accountability to ensure actionable insightsFamily & Community EngagementBuild strong partnerships with families and community organizationsAlign engagement efforts to improve:AttendanceStudent engagementEquitable access to rigorous learningCompliance & OperationsEnsure full compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations (SPED, civil rights, bilingual education)Oversee departments providing student support servicesMaintain required district plans and reporting structuresQualificationsMassachusetts licensure as a Superintendent/Assistant SuperintendentMaster’s Degree in Special Education requiredDoctorate preferredMinimum of five years of successful teaching experience in urban schoolsMinimum of five years of successful administrative leadership experienceExperience as a principal or central office administrator requiredExperience at the middle level requiredDemonstrated expertise in:Special education and inclusive practices with social emotional learning expertiseMultilingual learner educationMTSS frameworksInstructional improvement in urban settingsProven ability to design and lead professional learning systems (PLCs, coaching, etc.)Strong understanding of the Instructional Core and equitable access to rigorSUCCESS METRICSSuccess In This Role Will Be Measured ByIncreased consistency of grade-level instruction across classroomsImproved effectiveness of scaffolds and supports for diverse learnersStrong implementation of PLCs focused on instructional planningReduction in variability across schoolsIncreased student engagement in thinking, talking, and grade-level workTerms Of EmploymentThis is a 12 month positionThe nature of this position requires hours beyond the regular school day.
