Network Engineer

Title: Network EngineerLocation: Houston, TexasType: Direct HireSalary: $110,000 - $130,000Summary:The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining the enterprise network, including LAN/WAN, wireless, Firewalls and hybrid cloud environments. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in routing/switching, experience with firewall management, and a passion for network automation to maximize performance and security.Duties:- Configure, install, and maintain network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, access points) to ensure maximum uptime.- Assist in designing and deploying scalable network solutions and upgrading existing infrastructure.- Manage hybrid connectivity, including VPCs, Transit Gateways, and VPNs within [AWS/Azure] environments.- Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for complex network outages and performance issues, performing root cause analysis.- Implement and maintain network security policies, including ACLs, firewall rules, and VPN access.- Utilize scripting tools to automate routine network tasks and configurations.- Create and maintain comprehensive network diagrams, configuration documentation, and operating procedures.- Manage third-party suppliers to maximize value, ensure performance, utilize support to find solutions, and cultivate long-term partnerships to foster trust, cooperation, and service improvements.- Manage network projects from scope, budget, and a timeline perspective.Requirements:- 4+ years Network Engineering experience- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN technologies, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).- Hands-on experience with [Cisco/Arista/Meraki] hardware.- Strong working knowledge of firewalls (Fortinet, Cisco Firepower, VeloCloud etc.).- Experience with next-gen firewalls (Fortinet, Cisco ASA/Firepower), VPNs, ACLs, and NAT.Knowledge of software-defined networking (SD-WAN).- Ability to use observability tools for troubleshooting and performance management.- Ability to analyze complex issues and troubleshoot under high-pressure scenarios.- Clear communication with team members and meticulous documentation of network topologies and changes.- Willingness to learn new technologies- Takes initiative to maintain and increase technical knowledge.Education:- High School diploma or GED, or 5+ years of relevant equivalent work experience.- CCNA or CCNP certification preferred.
