Position SummaryAs a Senior Buyer within an Automotive OEM, you will be responsible for the end-to-end procurement lifecycle of high-complexity automotive components and prototype parts. This role requires a strategic thinker who can bridge the gap between technical engineering requirements and commercial execution. You will leverage your deep industry expertise to manage supplier relationships, negotiate high-value contracts, and ensure that all prototype and production materials meet rigorous technical and quality standards.Primary ResponsibilitiesStrategic Sourcing & Procurement: Lead the sourcing process for automotive parts, specifically focusing on Prototype (Proto-Type) development and production-scale components.Contract Management: Draft, negotiate, and manage complex supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with legal, corporate, and automotive industry standards.Technical Integration: Interpret CAD drawings and technical specifications to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their manufacturing capabilities.Supplier Relations: Conduct supplier audits, performance evaluations, and risk assessments to ensure a resilient and cost-effective supply chain.Cost Management: Drive cost-reduction initiatives through rigorous RFQ (Request for Quote) analysis, benchmarking, and value engineering.SAP Execution: Utilize SAP for managing purchase orders, tracking material flows, and maintaining accurate procurement data.Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to ensure part availability aligns with vehicle launch timelines.Required QualificationsEducation & ExperienceEducation: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related field.Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, contract management, or procurement; or an equivalent combination of advanced education and professional experience.Specialization: Proven track record in specialized purchasing and contract negotiation within the automotive or heavy manufacturing sectors.Technical SkillsDesign Literacy: Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings with specific knowledge of automotive part geometry and prototyping processes.Software Proficiency: Expert-level skills in Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Experience with other technical procurement software is highly valued.ERP Expertise: Professional proficiency in SAP is mandatory.Core CompetenciesCommunication: Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to present complex data to executive leadership.Adaptability: Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously in a fast-paced OEM environment.Logistics: Flexibility to travel to supplier sites and work overtime as required to meet project milestones.
