Job Overview
Gochenauer Pet Resort is seeking a dedicated Pet Care Supervisor to help oversee the daily operations and care of the pets entrusted to us for boarding and grooming. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll ensure high-quality care for dogs and cats staying with us, while also providing exceptional customer service to their owners. As a Pet Care Supervisor you'll play a key role in supervising and supporting our Receptionist and Pet Care Technician teams. The ideal candidate has a strong background with animal handling and behavior, is highly organized, has excellent communication skills, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities Include
Oversee daily operations of the care team, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
Provide leadership and support to team members, fostering a positive work environment.
Provide hands-on care for boarded and groomed animals, including cleaning, feeding, walking, and administering medications.
Conduct regular assessments of animal health and behavior, addressing any concerns promptly.
Maintain safety protocols for handling animals, including proper restraint techniques.
Assist with pet grooming, bathing, and other hygiene-related tasks as needed.
Training and coaching new team members.
Interact with clients professionally, addressing their concerns and ensuring their pets receive top-notch care.
Keep open lines of communication with management about health concerns or operational challenges.
Handle opening and closing procedures, restock supplies, and oversee equipment maintenance.
Greet and check pets in and out for boarding and grooming.
Escort pets to and from their living quarters.
Answer phones and schedule reservations.
Clean and maintain pet living areas.
Assist with general cleaning duties (dishes, laundry, vacuuming, etc.).
Qualifications
Prior animal handling and animal behavior experience required (kennel, shelter, daycare, or veterinary setting preferred).
Strong leadership, problem solving and organizational skills. Prior supervisory experience is a plus.
Proficiency in animal handling and animal restraint techniques is essential.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly with both team members and pet owners.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to perform heavy lifting as required when handling larger animals or equipment. Ability to handle dogs up to 200 pounds and lift up to 50 pounds.
Adaptability to changing schedules and emergency situations.
Knowledge of cleaning procedures and basic equipment operation.
Flexibility in scheduling, must be able to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts between 7 AM and 7 PM.
Working Conditions
Exposure to noise, odors, and animal related hazards.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Potential exposure to contagious diseases or animal bites.
