This is a dynamic role.ResponsibilitiesAssist in the hands-on installation, maintenance, and/or remediation of green roof projects, including planting, weeding, irrigation installation/adjustment, and related work on extensive/intensive green roof systems, planters, meadows, and interiorscapesCarry out standard horticultural practices, including weeding, planting, pruning, fertilizing, and controlling pests/diseasesSupport the Horticulture Director and provide leadership/direction to horticulture team members during site maintenance visits and planting daysProvide general assistance to Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and crew, both on and offsiteInterface with clients to clearly communicate maintenance tasks and protocolsHelp maintain a clean and safe work environment on job sites, in the office/shop, and in Recover vehiclesOff-site work may include plant sourcing and material pick-ups from local and wholesale nurseriesAdministrative work may include writing maintenance reports, collecting material prices for new build projects, preparing estimates and proposals, training horticulture crew, and researching/providing plant recommendations for new green roof projectsQualificationsAt least 2 years of hands-on experience in horticulture or landscaping, specifically working with perennials, trees, shrubs, and tropical indoor plantsA degree in Horticulture, Environmental Science, Forestry, Agroecology, Landscape Design, or a related field is a plusExperience working with New England's plant palettes and environmentsKnowledge of plant pathology, organic pest management, and plant growth habitsHands-on experience with automated irrigation systems, including drip and sprinkler irrigationComfort with using or learning to use Excel, Google Sheets, and/or other technological platformsMust be reliable with a strong ability to both take direction and work independentlyStrong communication, critical thinking, and attention-to-detail skillsA valid drivers license with comfortable driving and parking in BostonWork Environment & Physical Demands: working on roofs under adverse weather conditions (sun, heat, wind, rain) and handling and climbing all types of laddersRoutine and/or frequent lifting of loads up to or greater than 50-75 lbsOccasional non-routine overnight travel based on business needsSalary And BenefitsFull TimeSalary at $23.00 - $26.00 per hour, commensurate with experiencePTO and Sick DaysHealth & Wellness/Gym Reimbursement Continuing Education & TrainingJobsite Footwear and Gear
