As the Senior Linux System Administrator, this individual will support, administer, maintain, and sustain virtual and physical Linux server platforms hosted in enterprise IT environments. In this role, the Sr. Linux Systems Administrator will maintain VMWare environment support the patching, compiling, securing, and troubleshooting of Linux servers in a heterogeneous environment. In addition, the Linux Administrator will perform system updates, provisioning, cloning and server configurations as well as be responsible for implementing changes in multiple environments from development to production. The Senior Linux Systems Administrator will also provide technical support for incident response, service degradations, outages, and other service interruptions.
This role requires a physical presence on site 5 days a week in Augusta, GA.
Responsibilities:
Performs full life cycle Linux Administrator operations for Primarily Ubuntu and Redhat - Install, Harden, Monitor, Maintain, Update, Backups
Performs the daily health checks
Completes and update system STIGs. Track POA&Ms and drive compliance
Scripts and automates virtual and physical Linux Platforms
Operation of Docker and preferably Docker Swarm
Installs, operate, Maintain Applications running on Docker such as Zabbix, Grafana, Proxy / Reverse Proxy, LMS
Works with security and DEVOPS teams to support the tools that run on Linux systems.
Configure networking components as it relates to Linux systems - TCP/IP, Routing, DNS Server and Client
Installs, protects, recovers, and modernizes the application hosting systems and capabilities (including servers, storage, databases, and other essential infrastructure) needed to provision enterprise IT applications to the user community
Builds, sustains, patches, backup and recovery of physical Linux servers, virtual hosts, and virtual machines in multiple network environments
Executes performance testing and optimization to meet performance specifications, monitor and report on system utilization rates, and service capacities
Builds and sustains global policies in support of systems and users across all network enclaves
Plans, executions, and documents mission-application baseline specification changes, to include changes to high-availability, fault-tolerant system designs, cluster-aware applications, client-server applications, web-enabled applications, and other n-tier application architectures
Supports and executes migrations of server-hosted applications to a mix of Public and Private Cloud environments; verifies before and after services; and maps, builds, sustains, and validates interfaces between data systems
Provides verification of data owners, authorized submitters, and logon identifications (IDs), existing level of privileges, and system security configurations for specific systems identified by the Government
Installs, secures, and troubleshoots website-hosting servers, web-application servers, and websites by identifying system requirements, building systems, installing updates.
Deploys applications, securing the systems from cyber security attacks, deploying application and website content updates, and configuring authentication and authorization to meet cyber security mandates
Performs other tasks as required by OSC and the Government contracting office
Required Qualifications/Education and Experience:
Must have and maintain a Secret Security clearance with TS/SCI eligibility
Must have High School Diploma or equivalent
Must have (2) certifications: Valid 8570 Level - II Certification Security+ or Higher, and a RHCT, RHCE, or LPIC certification
Minimum seven (7) years or more of experience in systems administration
In-depth knowledge of Linux: RedHat, CentOS, Debian, etc.
Knowledge of implementation and administration of VMWare
Must have experience utilizing Docker and preferably Docker Swarm
Experience in a 24/7 military or government IT environment
Knowledge of systems software, hardware, and networking protocols
Experience with scripting and automation tools
Experience implementing IT strategy, plans, and SOPs
Knowledge of implementing IT operations best practices, including knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
Experience in Ports Protocols and Security Measures
Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service experience
