Academic Dean & Student Success AdvisorAcademic Leadership, Master Scheduling, and AP Program CoordinationRole OverviewThe Academic Dean & Student Success Advisor at Bloomfield High School is a strategic administrative leader focused on the structural and academic success of the student body. This role manages the high-level academic framework of the school-including the Master Schedule and Attendance Team-while ensuring students are prepared for post-secondary success through Next Step Plans and the Advanced Placement (AP) program.Classification: ExemptContract: 210 DaysLocation: Bloomfield High SchoolReports to: School Principal Key Responsibilities1. Advanced Placement (AP) CoordinationAP Program Management: Lead the strategic planning, ordering, and logistics for all College Board Advanced Placement (AP) exams.Proctoring & Compliance: Recruit and train AP proctors, manage secure testing materials, and ensure 100% compliance with College Board and NMPED regulations.Equity & Access: Utilize "AP Potential" data to identify and recruit students for advanced coursework; oversee the fee-reduction process to ensure all students can access AP testing. 2. Master Scheduling & Academic GovernanceSchedule Architecture: Design and maintain the school's Master Schedule, balancing teacher loads with student needs for core graduation requirements and electives.Registration Oversight: Lead the student registration process and manage course requests to ensure students are placed in the appropriate academic tracks.Data Management: Utilize PowerSchool to create schedules, manage student lists, and run queries to ensure data integrity across the academic department. 3. Student Success & PersistenceNext Step Plans (NSP): Facilitate the NMPED-mandated Next Step Plan process, ensuring every student has a documented path toward graduation.Attendance Team Leadership: Direct the school's Attendance Team, developing data-driven intervention strategies to reduce chronic absenteeism and improve student persistence.Online Learning: Monitor student progress for those utilizing the Edgenuity platform. 4. College & Career ReadinessSan Juan College Partnership: Coordinate Dual Credit applications and collaborate with Admissions, Financial Aid, and the Native American Center.Post-Secondary Workshops: Organize FAFSA assistance workshops, College Fairs, and career assessments (e.g., Myers-Briggs).Skills Development: Provide workshops for students on Financial Literacy, Study Skills, and Time Management.Support Plans for Home Room/Seminar Sections Qualifications & RequirementsCategoryRequirementsEducationMaster's degree in a related field or Education Administration Degree.Experience2+ years related work experience or School Administration preferredTechnical SkillsProficiency in PowerSchool, Edgenuity, and Master Scheduling software, Google ClassroomPhysicalAbility to sit, stand, reach, squat, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.KnowledgeStrong understanding of NMPED graduation requirements and College Board AP policies.Performance ResponsibilitiesCoordinate all student services activities and facilitate communication between parents, staff, and community agencies.Consult with teachers and administrators to assist in meeting the academic needs of the student body.Collaborate with Student Assistance Teams (SAT) to provide administrative support for student success.Chaperone high school trips and participate in required district in-service programs.Maintain current knowledge of community resources and utilize them to support the Next Step Plan process. Perform other duties as assigned by the School Principal.
