Licensed Vocational Nurse

JOB SUMMARY* Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurses participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. Licensed Vocational Nurses collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Licensed Vocational Nurses effectively interact with patient and significant others, while maintaining the standard of professional nursing. Licensed Vocational Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients with a predictable outcome based on the application of scientific nursing principles. Due to the broad range of medical conditions they encounter, they must be well-versed in a large variety of health conditions. Licensed Vocational Nurses have a professional obligation to participate in committee activities, surveys, and improvement initiatives. In addition, Licensed Vocational Nurses must uphold the standards of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, and must practice within their defined scope of practice.JOB REQUIREMENTSMinimum EducationGraduate of Approved LVN Program.Minimum Work ExperienceNo previous experience.Required Licenses/CertificationsBLS - should not initiate patient contact until completed.Licensed Vocational NurseACLS should be completed within 90 days of hire.NIH Stroke Scale should be completed within 90 days of hire.Required Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesInput data into computer programs.Familiar with rehabilitation equipment.Designated DriverNoOSHA Category1 - High Risk
