Data Engineer II

Overview As a Contract Data Engineer, you will build and optimize data pipelines that ingest API data and manage core data infrastructure. You’ll work hands-on with Databricks, Snowflake, and relational databases to deliver clean, reliable data for analytics tools. This project-based contract role emphasizes rapid integration and measurable results, collaborating with analysts and BI developers to meet data needs. You’ll shape data models and ensure governance, quality, and performance at scale. ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain scalable data ingestion pipelines from third-party and internal APIs (REST, SOAP)Implement efficient ETL/ELT data transformations within the data platformManage and optimize Snowflake and Postgres database storage and schemasUse Databricks for processing, transformation, and orchestrationEnsure data quality, accuracy, and integrity across pipelinesCollaborate with data analysts and BI developers (Tableau users) to optimize data modelsMonitor pipelines and systems for performance, errors, and discrepancies; implement fixesCreate and maintain technical documentation for pipelines, processes, and data modelsTroubleshoot data issues and provide timely resolutionsApply best practices for data security and governance within the platform Key requirementsProven Data Engineer with API integration and database management experienceExperience building API data ingestion pipelines, including authentication, error handling, and parsingStrong SQL skills; database design, query optimization, and performance tuning in PostgresHands-on Snowflake experience including data loading, querying, and performance optimizationExperience with Databricks for processing, ETL/ELT, and orchestration (PySpark, notebooks)Proficiency in Python or similar data-engineering languageExperience on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) where Snowflake and Databricks are deployedUnderstanding of data warehousing concepts and best practicesExperience supporting Tableau or similar BI tools with clean data sourcesStrong problem-solving abilities and ability to work independently in fast-paced settingsExcellent communication and collaboration skillsproblem-solvingindependencecommunicationAPI integrationSQL (Postgres)Snowflake
